What is an ankle sprain?

There are thousands of people who sprain their ankles everyday, whether it?s through sports or stepping on an uneven surface- it can happen to anyone. ?A sprain occurs when the foot twists or turn beyond the normal range of motion causing the ligaments to over stretch and sometimes even tear.
The type of sprain may vary and can be classified as acute, chronic, or ?recurrent. An x-ray may be ordered by your doctor to rule out any type of fracture or an MRI to determinate the severity of the sprain.
At the time of the sprain you may experience pain, swelling, and/or the inability to weight bear on your affected ankle. With a severe sprain, you may hear a ?pop? or ?snap? which could indicate a tear of the ligament. ?After a sprain, RICE should be applied immediately: ??Rest,?Ice,?Compression,?Elevation.
Some sprains may require physical therapy to help relieve the symptoms and to provide appropriate treatment to avoid future injuries. Without proper care other issues could arise such as decreased range of motion, chronic pain, swelling, and instability that would hinder your normal routine of daily living.
How can we prevent such an injury?
Using body awareness and balance training, performing exercises to correct imbalances and weakness of specific muscles, performing exercises to improve mobility, and adhering to a ?progressive functional training program that would allow you to gradually and safely return to your activities.
Treatments in Physical Therapy:
- Range of motion exercises- to restore full motion.
- Muscle strengthening exercises- to restore any muscle weakness.
- Body awareness and balance training- to reeducate your muscles to respond to environmental changes.
- Functional training- to return to prior level of function.
- Activity specific training- to help achieve other goals specific to your life style.

I?m sure you?ve probably heard that you need alot of traffic to your website to make alot of money online. Well you can get alot of traffic using alot of non-effective methods, or you can spend most of your time implementing quality traffic techniques that will actually bring you good traffic.

In today?s lesson, I want to share with you some of my favorite ways to get traffic to my website. It doesn?t matter what you sell online. You can use these same strategies (or a slight ?twist? of these strategies), to boost your traffic count and get you more sales. I have been using these strategies for a long while now and I can tell you that it just flat out works. Here?s traffic method number 1 that I?m talking about:

1) Youtube

I use to hide behind the camera when making my Youtube videos but yesterday, I actually went down to my local Walmart and saw a camcorder that I wanted to buy. And yes? I bought it. So far the image quality is good, and I look forward to using it alot to develop my Youtube videos.

But anyway, you too can use Youtube to get alot of traffic to your website. I once ran across one guy who had over 10,000,000 views from his videos, and he had over 100,000 subscribers. These are the type of numbers that can take your internet business to the next level, and in some sense? promoting yourself on Youtube can be better than using paid advertising!

I?m serious about this. Youtube is the #3 ranked website on the internet in terms of website traffic (Google is #1 and Facebook is #2. Yahoo comes in at #4). So with all of this traffic that Youtube gets everyday, do you think you can take things to the next level and start getting the loads of traffic that you are looking for? I think so. Here?s another traffic method that I like:

2) SEO

SEO or ?search engine optimization? simply means that you are preparing your website for optimal placement in the search engines. The 3 major search engines are Google, Yahoo, and Bing. All of these search engines are places that you can rank high in, and start getting free traffic to your site. But one thing that you don?t want to do is to rely solely on search engine traffic alone.

Google is by far the largest search engine, and they change their algorithms everyday. So optimize your site and continue to do SEO, but just don?t put all your eggs in one basket. You never know when an ?update? will come around and will affect your search engine rankings.

These 2 traffic techniques are things that I use in my internet business today, and I am absolutely thrilled with the results that they give me. If I were you, I would learn how to use these 2 traffic methods also so that you can have the success that you?re looking for in your business too.

Asia's rich crave luxury hand-crafted cars from Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - The global economic doldrums may have weighed on businesses around the world, but in Malaysia a luxury hand-crafted carmaker struggles to keep up with demand as orders pour in from China and the Middle East.

Some customers are willing to wait nearly two years for their Bufori vehicle, which costs anywhere from $150,000-$350,000 and can contain unique touches at the buyer's request, ranging from built-in vaults to pearl-studded interiors.

One such customer is eHong Tan, a Malaysian green technology entrepreneur and tea connoisseur, who asked for her Bufori to be fitted with tea-making and aromatherapy features.

"I love drinking Chinese tea. The car allows me to make tea and drink it while I'm traveling," said Tan, adding that both are "unique and satisfying" creature comforts that she had always wanted.

The hefty price tag does little to dampen the car's popularity among Asia's rich, whose number of high net worth individuals overtook North America for the first time last year as wealth in Thailand and Indonesia surged almost ten percent, according to the Asia-Pacific Wealth report.

Bufori's founder and managing director, Gerry Khouri, said he first started the company in his native Australia in 1987, but decided to move to Malaysia in the early 90s when demand from the region began to jump.

In the past three years, orders for his Buforis, which he says is the only fully handmade car produced in Asia, have steadily risen 15-20 percent each year.

"China and Middle East are probably our two biggest markets right now," said Khouri, adding that he also gets orders from Southeast Asian countries, Hong Kong, Japan and Europe.

"There's a lot of promise here -- that's what brought us to Malaysia and kept us here," Khouri said. The country hosts Bufori's only plant where customers can visit to see their cars being made. Showrooms are found in Sydney and Shanghai.

"The beautiful thing is I get to see it built from the beginning to end, like watching a baby growing up," said Tan.

Khouri, who built his first car in his backyard at only 21, says that while the Bufori kept its trademark classic designs, the cars' performance itself is "in a class of its own".

The Geneva, a 4-door luxury limousine with elegant curves and a long running board, is powered by a 6.4-litre V8 engine boasting up to 470 horsepower and 630 Newton meters (Nm) of torque.

"These are exclusive, very elite. You've got to be very special to own one of these cars," he said.

But Khouri admits that the long waiting list can push some customers to competitors such as Bentley and Rolls Royce.

"These cars are made by hand. No machines -- look around you, it's just people," he says, gesturing around the 50,000 square foot (4,645 square meter) factory in the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur where workers are busy fitting custom-made parts and molding the Bufori's classic body.

Upstairs, in the upholstery and interior section, leather is cut and stitched by hand while engineers put together electronic controls.

"You can't speed up people like a machine," he added.

With around a hundred workers, the factory makes only 60 cars worldwide per annum -- a fraction of its 300 target, with the limited workforce and the long hours it takes to complete a car dragging down production.

"Our problem is our demand exceeds our capacity. We're not in the situation where we can produce enough vehicles to meet the demand worldwide," says Khouri.

"It sounds like a crazy problem to have - but it's serious because we are losing sales everyday."

Khouri wants to set up more factories to speed up production but is wary, wanting to preserve the quality.

"Bufori cars are very labor-intensive and dependent on people. We might compromise the quality which is something we don't want to do," he added.

The Bufori La Joya coupe takes 3,500 man hours to complete while the Geneva saloon needs 9,000 man hours.

"That's ridiculous in the overall scheme of things. If you look at a mass producer carmaker, even 50 man hours is taking too much," says Khouri.

But customers who chose to be patient have no regrets.

"It is worth the wait," says Tan, whose car took 20 months to finish. "It's more than a car. To me, the Bufori is an art."

War intensifies across Syria, refugee crisis deepens

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Rebels battled to hold onto Syria's main north-south highway on Friday as government forces fought insurgents on several fronts across the country.

The rebels captured an air defense base east of Syria's biggest city, Aleppo, and government forces unleashed air strikes and artillery bombardments on the western city of Homs, activists said.

On the Turkish-Syrian border, Turkey scrambled two fighter jets after a Syrian military helicopter bombed the Syrian border town of Azmarin, the site of fierce fighting between rebels and government forces this week.

Tensions between Ankara and Damascus are worsening at a time when the 19-month-old conflict is intensifying with no sign of a diplomatic breakthrough and growing concerns that the violence could spread across the Middle East.

The pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights gave a death toll for Thursday of more than 260 people, including civilians and combatants on both sides, as fighting raged in the capital and the north, west and east of the country.

It said 92 soldiers had been killed on Thursday, one of the highest daily tolls on the government side since the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad broke out in March 2011.

The official SANA news agency also reported fighting nationwide and said dozens of rebels, which it called "mercenary terrorists", had been killed.

In Idlib, activists said opposition fighters captured about 400 soldiers and loyalist militiamen this week in Western Jisr al-Shoughour, a hilly agricultural area.

Photos released by the opposition showed dozens of uniformed soldiers sitting on the ground in what appeared to be a hangar.

"Around 400 loyalist troops have been captured. Many of them were poor conscripts who were let go. The more important officers are being interrogated," a rebel source said.

The reports could not be independently verified but they indicate an intensifying conflict, with the daily body counts of the past few weeks far exceeding previous months.

HIGHWAY HELL

The British-based Observatory, which has a network of monitors in Syria, reported fighting at a military barracks close to Maarat al-Nuaman, a town on the highway from Homs to Aleppo in the northwest.

Aleppo, Syria's commercial hub, has been contested since July and the rebel capture of Maarat al-Nuaman this week cut the main route for Assad's military to resupply and reinforce it.

Opposition sources said rebels on Thursday halted an armored army column at Khan Sheikhoun which had been sent from Hama to retake Maarat al-Nuaman, 70 km (40 miles) south of Aleppo. They also reported artillery barrages along the highway between Khan Sheikhoun and Maarat in the past 72 hours.

SANA said government forces were trying to clear Aleppo's Karm al-Jabal area of rebels on Friday.

More than 30,000 people have been killed in the conflict, which started out as a popular uprising against four decades of Assad family rule and domination by their Alawite sect and then spiraled into civil war.

Fighting has also spilled over its borders into Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, stoking fears that the war could drag in its neighbors.

Since Syrian bombardments hit Turkish villages last week, Ankara and Damascus have squared off militarily and rhetorically, with Turkey moving troops to the border and threatening to retaliate if there is further cross-border bloodshed.

Turkey infuriated Syria on Wednesday when it forced a passenger plane flying from Russia to Syria to land in Ankara. Turkish authorities said it was carrying Russian-made munitions for the Syrian army, a charge denied by Damascus and Moscow.

Turkey allows rebels sanctuary on its soil and has led calls, along with Western powers and Gulf Arab states, for Assad to step down. The Syrian president counts on the support of Russia and Iran.

Despite the bluster, most analysts believe that neither Syria nor Turkey want matters to get out of hand. The United States and European powers have also shown no desire to intervene militarily, despite much hand-wringing over the bloodshed.

HOMS UNDER FIRE AGAIN

Assad's forces also ramped up air strikes and artillery barrages against Homs on Friday, a day after they took heavy losses trying to overrun the rebel-held Khalidiya district, opposition activists said.

"There are 50 bodies of soldiers and shabbiha (militia) on the streets in Khalidiya and regime troops cannot retrieve them," said Ahmad Tarkawi, a local opposition leader.

"The situation remains tough. The regime is now using a multiple rings tactic to surround Homs."

Homs, 140 km (90 miles) north of Damascus, was the focus of world attention in February when a government siege pulverized rebel-held districts and killed hundreds of fighters and civilians. It is also a gateway to the mountains overlooking the Mediterranean, heartland of Assad's minority Alawite sect.

Video footage showed a six-storey building in Khalidiya flattened by an airstrike.

Shelling and aerial bombardments also hit Sunni Muslim towns near Homs to prevent rebels in the countryside from joining the battle for Homs, opposition activist Abu Yazan said.

Meanwhile, the refugee crisis grew ever more acute, with the U.N. refugee agency UNHCR saying that between 2,000 and 3,000 people were fleeing across borders every day from Syria.

The total number of refugees now stood at more than 340,000, Melissa Fleming, a UNHCR spokeswoman, said in Geneva.

"And now into the winter months, more and more of these people are going to be living in camp situations. So more and more of these people are going to be spending the winter in tents," she said.

Sam Bagot and Will Bratton operate Horto Domi (hortodomi.com), an agricultural project they describe as "beyond organic." They're working with small prefab greenhouses, adding sensors and Arduino-actuated controls, and even including an earthworm breeding area in most domes, because earthworms are good for the soil and can increase plant production. If you're the kind of person whose plants always seem to shrivel up and die, this may be a great way to garden. With watering and other functions automated, it looks like all you have to do is set your controls, plant what you want to grow, and wait for the "time to harvest" alarm to go off. Okay, it might not be that simple, but Sam and Will say their gardening method saves a lot of energy and time. It also looks like fun, besides being an easy way to grow your own 100% organic fruits and vegetables.

Timothy: I met up with Will Bratton and Sam Bagot between their homes in San Marcos, Texas and Sugar Land, Texas on the UT Austin campus.

Will and Sam are together creating what you might describe as an integrated garden environment called Horto Domi. Horto Domi sounds a bit like how it looks too; a small dome structure. But anyone can make a dome. What these two have added is a flexible, extensible control system that can both read inputs, like light levels or soil moisture, and respond with programmed responses. That could mean something as simple as turning on a sprinkler or more complex, like simulating daybreak with LEDs. It?s all based on Arduinos and open-source code. And they?d like other people to use and extend their ideas. Let?s have a listen.

Will Bratton: Horto Domi is Latin for ?garden at home.? And the idea is you have a garden at home, like people used to, and you produce your own food, and food independence and all of those good things. So, we?ve created a micro environment that produces enough food for an individual in as healthy a conditions as possible, so that you get the most out of your food as possible. If it?s a good idea, and we hope that Horto Domi is a good idea, that?s all likely to change. So, Horto Domi is whatever the open community takes it.

I think you could potentially grow any season, any region, in any location. So, if you want to grow something that?s out of season or out of region for you, you can do that inside of your environment. As far as how far out of region, that?s going to depend on how much you change the modular coverings. For example, we?ve only used shade cloth and acrylic plastic. But, if you were, say, to use a UV bubble wrap, you could move much further north, and if you were to cover it completely and only rely on artificial lighting, then I think you could take it anywhere.

It?s a dome unit, that?s automated using sensors and different lights and valves and such. It?s approximately 6, 6.5 feet in diameter, decagonal shaped bed, and it?s about 30 square feet of gardening space with a 4 to 5 square foot earthworm bed in the center, and the earthworms increase production and quality.

Sam Bagot: Yeah. So, pretty much, the idea behind adding a microprocessor to it is that the open-source community can kind of morph it into whatever they want. Right now the base unit is the garden. It has some moisture sensors, temperature sensors that control lighting arrays. It can theoretically supplement light. Of course, there?s water valve, so it?s going to be supplementing and monitoring the watering situation. And that?s kind of the base model at the moment.

And so, I?m kind of hoping it can go and the open-source community can possibly add to the code, to the implementation of the microprocessor. There?s lots of different open-source micro processing solutions and different directions it can go. And basically, right now, it monitors the growing of the fruit, but I see it one day being able to hook up to anything. I mean, you could hook it up with the proper software into your twitter account, you could hook it up to your Facebook account, you could hook up a webcam that helps you watch by adding ? Raspberry Pi is really powerful and it can do video processing. So, there is a lot of different directions that it can take.

And theoretically, you can always just plant some seeds and water them, but this kind of opens up the gateway into the technology community that we could really bring lots of the current technologies on the bleeding edge into the gardening situation. And above all, I think it?s an interesting mix because bringing the technology into the situation also brings in the tech community into a community that they normally don?t mix into. There?s the gardeners and then there?s the computer nerds. But this, when this gets going, this really allows computer nerds to have a vested interest in this gardening situation to be able to help out farmers.

And also one last thing, the technology allows with multiple domes or greenhouses with these micro controllers, theoretically you can get one person doing quite a bit more work than they could do going and turning valves on and off, or timers, or checking plants. It can theoretically, if you have it lined up right, you could have a couple of farmers managing an entire field. And then with that, you get into the realm of, it?s kind of rolling on its own and the farmers can concentrate more on some of the important things that the community cares about, like harvesting and cooking and all of these things. So, there is different benefits to the technology beyond just automating stuff.

Will Bratton: Can I say something about bringing those two communities together? So, much of the permaculture diehard organic community is wary of technology because technology has taken us to genetically modified petrochemicals and all these things that are adverse to. So, this combines the two, this is technology, open-source technology, and really intensive organics. And that?s something about the tech community too, whenever they think about where they want to take open-source tech, it goes back into this monocropping and more applications in petrochemicals.

So, we want to reunite the two, not have the permaculture community go where I would say is backwards, and not have the tech community keep going down that negative path. Try to readjust.

The Hard Romantic Choice | Psychology Today

Humans face many choices in their lives and they take them seriously?often too seriously. Thus, there are some people who yearn to experience profound passionate love and so dismiss romantic experiences that fall short of such love. They want profound love at its best, and when they cannot get it, they would rather relinquish all other ?superficial? romantic experiences. There is no ?second best? in their romantic vocabulary; they want all or nothing. Monica is such a woman.

Monica is an attractive and wise professional married woman in her mid-forties. She is very sensitive and romantic issues are always on her mind. Her husband, a kind, loving person, cares a lot for her. She loves and cares for him as well, but it is more a kind of companionate love than passionate love. Nevertheless, she considers their marital relationship quite satisfactory and never intends to leave it. Monica has never had a one-night stand, but she experienced, while being married, a profound passionate love that was not consummated. She and her (would-be) lover talked and met a lot, but no sex was permitted. Her lover demanded ?all-or-nothing.? Despite her profound passionate love for him, she was not ready to give him everything including not sex. Monica had to abandon the whole relationship. She still yearns for this or a similar relationship, but she does not regret what she did?or in this case, what she did not do.

Deep down in her heart, Monica wishes to fulfill four seemingly incompatible wishes:

(a) Maintaining her marital framework (?which is very satisfactory?),

(b) Not losing her romantic sensitivity (?having the wonderful feeling of being romantically excited?),

(d) Not having superficial sex (?I cannot have superficial casual sex devoid of profound passionate love?).

Monica faces a hard choice in wanting to maintain all these wishes. If indeed Monica is right in believing that (a) and (b) will not change, as they are both deeply embedded in her heart and values, then she would probably have to choose between (c) and (d). Since both of them provide romantic flavor to one?s life (although quite a different flavor in each case), the choice would have to be made on the basis of their ability to maintain her marriage (a). Monica would certainly like to implement the wish for profound love (c), as she yearns not merely for romance, but for a qualitative romance. However, while a profoundly love affair would satisfy her romantic sensitivity, it is likely to threaten her marriage.

If Monica?s wish for profound love were fulfilled, it could destroy her own marriage. Monica knows this. She does not want to kill her marriage; on the contrary, she wants to enhance it. However, she still yearns to experience profound love, but her two wishes may be incompatible. As Oscar Wilde said: ?Each man kills the thing he loves.?

Given Monica?s wish not to lose, and even enhance her romantic sensitivity, the hard choice she faces is between profound love and superficial casual sex. This choice will eventually be determined by the value that each has concerning its romantic nature, and its prospects of causing the least harm for her marriage. The two options, profound love and superficial casual sex have different values in each aspect.

The hard choice facing Monica is common to many women in their midlife who no longer have childbearing responsibility and begin to look at their sexuality differently. They give more weight to romance, and try to find profound love without ruining their marriage. These women (and men) are more or less settled in their work and life, but are not prepared to abandon romance. They may get sex at home, but what they really yearn for is the profound love they see every day on TV. However, profound love is hard to find and the search can be very costly. In any case, these people are not typically preoccupied with sex, as casual sex does not address their yearning for profound love; rather they are seeking love and if they can find it, they may be prepared to sacrifice their marriage.

It should be noted that yearning for profound love is incompatible with casual sex. Whether the profound love is found in marriage or outside it, it is a relationship that is built on some sort of exclusivity with someone who is "the one and only". Superficial casual sex entails having many replaceable partners. The issue that bothers most married people who yearn for profound love is not so much the risk of being exposed, but rather the risk of not being able to stay in their marriage if they cherish dearly.

The difference between profound love and superficial casual sex is also expressed in the road leading to desired relationship, and in particular the degree of commitment in these relationships. In profound love commitment is significant, whereas in superficial casual sex there is hardly any commitment.

Monica believes that romantic relationships, no matter how profound they are, should involve serious commitments. Thus, even in her nonsexual relationship with her (would-be) lover, she wanted him to be in touch with her on a regular basis and did not like the fact that he ?disappeared? from time to time. She felt that lovers, even almost-lovers, should be in touch with the beloved frequently in order to satisfy their immense longing for each other. The lack of such serious commitment prevented her from expressing her intense emotions. Moreover, the presence or absence of such commitment was for her a test of her friend?s serious intentions and the fact that he would temporary disappear from her life after their close intimate talks could indicate that he would disappear after they had sex.

Monica believes that most men, if given her dilemma, would choose the more superficial experience of uncommitted sex over profound love, and the less committed road that would emerge from this choice. Nevertheless, she thinks that they pretend to feel profound love. Therefore Monica avoids any type of ?light? connections?it is either everything (that is, profound passionate love) or nothing. But she is well aware that she will never have everything, and is determined never to engage in superficial casual sex. Accordingly, and given her profound commitment to her marriage, she is condemned to have her romantic sensitivity unfulfilled (assuming that it cannot grow significantly within her marriage). Hence, she understands those who may wish to give up such sensitivity all together.

Monica?s romantic attitude is a serious one that allows no compromises. Therefore it is either profound love and serious commitment or nothing. It is interesting to note that in her nonromantic behavior, Monica is a witty, lively woman who is great fun to be with. But all this disappears from view when it comes to romantic prospects. In these circumstances Monica is a normative and serious person?perhaps too serious. She is serious in the sense that everything romantic is perceived as important rather than a playful or light-hearted. She is afraid that a more relaxed, spontaneous approach could send the wrong signals to the other person about her romantic willingness, and could tempt her to take steps that contradict her values.
