I don?t know about you, but when I?m on the golf course, I like to imagine myself as one of the greats ? Arnold Palmer, Phil Mickelson or Vijay Singh.

Unfortunately for me, my golf games tend to be played on the miniature course.

But as any golf enthusiast in San Antonio knows, the city is home to a number of a challenging golf courses.

We decided to put together a slideshow listing of the 10 most difficult non-public golf courses in the San Antonio area ? based on the San Antonio Business Journal?s list of Toughest San Antonio MSA Non-Public Golf Courses.

Courses are ranked by their USGA slope rating ? the higher the number the harder the course. Slope is a single number used to indicate the level of difficulty for a given golf course for a golfer who regularly scores one over par ? a score of 90 in 18 holes on a par 72 course.

Non-public courses include courses open to private members as well as those managed by resorts but are open to guests.
